Vietnamese female cyclist wins first Asian gold medal

On February 11, Vietnam's top female cyclist Nguyen Thi That won the Asian gold medal in the women's mass start category at the tournament taking place in Myanmar.

The above content has a 106km route, the Vietnamese women's cycling team participates with 3 athletes: Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Thi Thi and Phan Thi Lieu.

Nguyen Thi That won a historic gold medal for Vietnamese cycling at the Asian tournament.

Defeating strong athletes from Japan, Chinese Taipei and South Korea, Nguyen Thi That finished first with a time of 3 hours 11 minutes 59 seconds, average speed of 33.13 km/h, winning the gold medal.

This is also the first Asian gold medal in the history of Vietnamese women's cycling. Previously, the Vietnamese athlete who won the continental championship gold medal was Truong Quoc Thang, in the men's category, 18 years ago.

Before winning the gold medal in the women's mass start event at this year's Asian tournament, Nguyen Thi That won a silver medal at the 2014 Asian Games, as well as being the champion of the 29th SEA Games in 2017.

Nguyen Thi That is currently the top female cyclist in Vietnam, having won many important road cycling tournaments in the country.
