Female maid stole gold and diamond rings from her employer to pay off debt for land purchase

While working as a maid, the 51-year-old woman discovered where her employer hid his belongings, so she stole them and then sold some jewelry to pay off the debt for the land purchase.

On April 25, Tam Binh District Police, Vinh Long Province prosecuted and banned Vuong Thi Huyen Linh (born 1969, residing in My Thanh Trung Commune, Tam Binh District) from leaving her place of residence to investigate the act of property theft.

According to the investigation results, Linh was a housekeeper for the family of Mrs. Phan Thi Cam (60 years old, residing in Tuong Loc commune, Tam Binh district). On the morning of April 16, Mrs. Cam discovered that 65 million VND, 300 USD, a 5-carat diamond ring, and 22 taels of gold had been stolen, so she reported it to the police.

Tam Binh District Police investigated and determined that Linh was the perpetrator of the theft. At the police station, she confessed that because she often helped with housework, she knew where her employer kept the property.

On the morning of April 3, Linh finished her housework and stole the above assets, brought them home and hid them in her garden. Linh then sold the 4 taels of gold for nearly 17 million VND.

Linh used the money from selling gold along with the cash he had just stolen to pay off his debt from buying land in Ke Sach district, Soc Trang province.

After the police identified the culprit, Linh handed over the remaining property and voluntarily paid the homeowner 30 million VND.
