According to the head of Can Tho City Police, Ms. Uyen confessed that she did not extort money from the business alone but had the help of many people in Ho Chi Minh City.

Before arriving at a coffee shop in Ninh Kieu District (Can Tho City) to receive money from two business owners, Uyen was driven from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho by a young man in a white KIA car with license plate 65A-111... The car is currently being detained by the investigation agency.

"The person who drove Uyen has a registered residence in Can Tho. We are clarifying how this person is related to this case," said the leader of Can Tho City Police.

On the same morning, Can Tho City Police issued a press release stating that from July 31 to August 4, a newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City published three articles about a company in Hau Giang mobilizing 1,000 billion VND to set up a project that was considered unfeasible. Uyen then informed the company director that if she wanted to remove the article, she would have to pay 700 million VND, and if she delayed, the fee would increase to 1 billion VND.

After agreeing on the illegal transaction, Uyen went from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho and met two business owners in Hau Giang at a coffee shop in Ninh Kieu District (Can Tho City) on the evening of August 6. Here, when Uyen had just received 280 million VND from the two businesses, the police raided and caught her red-handed.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quyet, Editor-in-Chief of Career Guidance and Integration Magazine, said Ms. Uyen has been working for this newspaper for more than 3 months. Ms. Uyen's position is Chief Representative of the office in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Editor-in-Chief, he was very surprised to hear that Ms. Uyen was arrested because this female journalist comes from a financially stable family, with a father who was the former Editor-in-Chief of two newspapers.

"I didn't think Hoang Uyen would do this. Uyen has been a journalist for nearly 20 years, inheriting the good qualities of her journalist father whom I respect. Since coming here, Hoang Uyen has not sent any anti-corruption or investigative articles to the editorial office. Uyen only writes news, seminars, and jobs for young people and people with disabilities," Mr. Quyet shared.

Career Guidance and Integration Magazine is waiting for an official document from the authorities so that the editorial board can use it as a basis to handle the female journalist.
