(Baonghean.vn) - When Hong was holding a package of sanitary napkins containing hidden drugs, she was questioned by the police. She threw the package of sanitary napkins on the street but was still discovered.
On October 26, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Dao Thi Hong (33 years old), residing in Chau Hoi commune, Quy Chau district, for the crime of "Illegal possession of drugs”.
According to the case, around the beginning of May 2020, Hong received a phone call from Nguyen Van Phuc (residing in Hung Loc commune) ordering 2 quantities of crystal meth, but Hong did not agree.
On May 5, 2020, Hong went to the hospital to take care of her boyfriend's mother. Phuc also visited and continued to ask her to buy drugs. Hong agreed, so she called a man in Hung Dung ward, Vinh city to order the "goods". This person quoted a price of 48 million VND, and when he had the money, he would give her the drugs. Hong then reported it to the buyer and he agreed.

At 10:30 a.m. on May 6, Hong went to Phuc's house to get money to buy drugs. However, Phuc said that his card was faulty and he could not withdraw money and said he would borrow money from another place. At the same time, Phuc told Hong that he had 2 quantities of methamphetamine (157.655 grams) of poor quality and asked Hong to exchange them for better quality. Hong agreed.
Hong went to the place Phuc had pointed out and saw a package of sanitary napkins containing crystal meth. Hong took the drugs and got on Phuc's motorbike. When they reached Mau Don hamlet, Hung Loc commune, they were checked by Vinh City Police. At this time, Hong jumped off the motorbike and dropped the package of drugs on the ground and was discovered.
In court, the defendant admitted to the crime. The defendant said that because he was touched by Phuc's visit to the hospital to see his boyfriend's mother, he agreed to buy drugs for her and exchange them. The defendant asked for a lighter sentence.
The People's Court sentenced Dao Thi Hong to 15 years in prison for illegal possession of drugs.
In this case, the defendant stated that the drugs belonged to Nguyen Van Phuc who asked him to exchange them, but Phuc denied knowing about the drugs. Therefore, relying solely on Hong's testimony is not enough evidence to charge Phuc.
