14-year-old Vietnamese student wins first prize at the Marria Herrero International Piano Competition
The results of the 7th Marria Herrero International Piano Competition recently held in Granada, Spain were announced with the first prize in the youth category (14-16 years old) being awarded to Vietnamese contestant Phan Thien Bach Anh (14 years old).

Held annually since 2010, the Marria Herrero International Piano Competition has been recognized as a serious and prestigious competition, with a jury of 8 world-renowned pianists from many different countries such as Ms. Natalia Lamas (Spain), Mr. Yuri Bogdanov (Russia), Ms. Svetlana Eganian (France), Mr. Fabio Witkowski (USA - Brazil) ..., and the competition program includes 2 separate rounds to screen outstanding candidates.
The 2017 competition had 62 contestants from 17 countries participating, divided into 5 groups: Group A (8-10 years old), Group B (11-13 years old), Youth Group (14-16 years old), Young Artist Group (17-19 years old) and Adult Artist Group (20-35 years old).
In the youth category, after 2 rounds of competition with works belonging to the classical and romantic schools, containing both technical elements and peak musical emotions, Bach Anh completely conquered the judges and was awarded the highest prize in this category.

In the summer of 2017, in addition to the above first prize, Bach Anh also won second prize in the Rising Stars Grand Prix 2017 (Berlin, Germany) and the Vietnam-Spain Piano Competition (Avila, Spain). She was also honored to be invited to perform at the award ceremony held at the Berlin Philharmony, a prestigious concert hall considered to have the best acoustic design in Germany.
Appearing as a young "phenomenon" in Vietnam since 2012, Bach Anh has continuously won 16 awards, including 6 first prizes, at international piano competitions held in Italy, Japan, the US, Spain, Korea, Indonesia and Vietnam. In particular, he was honored to receive an award presented by People's Artist Dang Thai Son when he was not yet 10 years old.
