A female student from Nghe An province achieved the top score in the 10th grade despite not attending extra classes.
(Baonghean.vn) - In the recent 2020-2021 high school entrance exam, Tran Thien Ngan, a student in class 9A of Cao Xuan Huy Secondary School (Dien Chau), excelled and achieved the highest score in the province.
In Chien Thang hamlet, Dien Bich commune, if you ask about Tran Thien Ngan, the student who achieved the top score in the recent high school entrance exam, everyone knows her.With scores of 8.5 in Literature, 9.2 in Foreign Language, and 10 in Mathematics, plus an additional 2 points for being from a disadvantaged coastal commune, Ngan's total score is 48.2 points, the highest in the entire province.
The good news is that I also passed the entrance exam for the specialized Mathematics program at Hanoi Pedagogical University with a score of 32.35 and ranked 3rd in the entrance exam for the specialized Mathematics program at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted with a score of 16.38.

Knowing the importance of the 10th grade entrance exam, I tried my best to study and review thoroughly before the exam. For each subject, I found a different study method. Although I checked the answers beforehand to predict my score, achieving a perfect 10 in Math made me very happy because my efforts in studying over the past time had paid off.
This achievement is the result of Tran Thien Ngan's hard work and dedication throughout her nine years of schooling. She loves mathematics but excels in all subjects. Her average grade each year is 9.5 or higher, with a perfect 10 in mathematics every year. From grades 6 to 9, Thien Ngan only ranked second in the district-level student excellence competition once; in all other years, she was the top student.

Thiên Ngân's academic achievements are a source of joy and pride for her parents. Her mother, Đậu Thị Ái Hương, shared: "After months of hard work, our daughter has finally reaped the rewards. Even so, we don't put pressure on her academically. We always let her study on her own, and even though she didn't achieve high results in this exam, we still acknowledge her efforts in her studies."
What's admirable about Ngan is her self-study spirit. She only studies at school and doesn't attend extra classes at tutoring centers or with private tutors. "The important thing is finding interest and passion in the subject. At school, I pay close attention to the teachers' lectures to grasp the knowledge in class. At home, I spend 3-4 hours studying on my own. I read extra books, do more exercises and past exam papers to hone my problem-solving skills, from easy to difficult levels. I don't attend extra classes because self-study helps me develop skills, independence, and the ability to explore new knowledge and understand my own capabilities," Ngan explained.
During the recent exam, under the dedicated guidance of her teachers, Ngan developed a very specific study method: she timed herself while doing practice tests, compared her answers with the answer key, and graded herself seriously. She noted down common mistakes in a small notebook and reviewed them repeatedly.
Ngan is very passionate about mathematics, intelligent, and diligent in seeking out advanced materials to study. Her learning method involves thoroughly studying basic formulas to apply them proficiently, solving many different types of problems, and proactively contacting her teachers to find multiple approaches to difficult problems. Her recent exam score is well-deserved, reflecting her hard work and dedication.
