60 female students from all regions of the country performed in Ao Dai and spoke about Ao Dai at the semi-finals of the contest "Searching for the 2017 Ao Dai Female Student Face".
The semi-final round took place at Nguyen Thi Dieu High School, Ho Chi Minh City. 60 outstanding faces were selected from the first round from thousands of female students nationwide who registered to participate.

In addition to performing in white ao dai, the contestants also showed their feelings and speaking skills to convey their love for ao dai to the judges. They expressed their love for ao dai by sharing their feelings, memories, stories about themselves, and their pride in the traditional costume of the nation.
Lecturer, actress Midu, a member of the jury, shared that many contestants still had clumsiness and awkwardness when performing and conveying messages about ao dai, but that was also the lovely, innocent trait of school-age students.
Midu also added that many of her foreign friends, when they came to Vietnam, saw the school leaving scene and the female students and exclaimed in surprise: "Is this really the Vietnamese female student uniform? So beautiful!"

Currently, not many schools maintain the wearing of ao dai for female students, but instead use other uniforms. Particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, the education sector has issued a regulation that in high schools, female students must wear ao dai at least 2 sessions/week.
After the semi-finals, the jury will select the 20 best contestants to enter the final round scheduled to take place at the end of July to find the face of the 2017 Ao Dai Student.
