The multi-talented female valedictorian from Nghe An province achieves "double" top honors.

Having admired the uniforms of police officers since childhood, Nguyen Thi Thuy applied to and passed the entrance exam to the People's Police Academy with the highest score. After 5 years of study, the female student from Nghe An province achieved the top position in her graduation with an excellent GPA of 8.64.

Nguyen Thi Thuy, born in 1990, comes from a modest family in Yen Thanh district (Nghe An province). Diligent in her studies, Thuy consistently achieved excellent grades throughout her 12 years of schooling. In 11th grade, she, a student from Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School (Nghe An), won third prize in the national geography competition for gifted students. With these outstanding achievements, at the end of 12th grade, Thuy was honored to join the ranks of the Communist Party of Vietnam. In the university entrance exam, Thuy achieved the highest score of 25, becoming the valedictorian of the People's Police Academy.

While Thuy was in her first year at the People's Police Academy, her father suddenly passed away in a traffic accident, leaving her mother to single-handedly raise Thuy and her two sisters through university. Out of love for her mother, despite having very little time to rest, Thuy always made time to tutor on weekends. Because she excelled in all subjects in the humanities and social sciences, Thuy tutored Literature, History, and Geography.

When asked why she chose to apply to the People's Police Academy, Thuy said: "Since I was little, I've loved the uniform and the image of police officers, and with my father's guidance, I chose to apply to the school. After passing the entrance exam, I was selected to study in the gifted program, specializing in investigating crimes against public order and safety."

Besides studying political science at the People's Police Academy, Thuy also had to train extensively in physical fitness subjects such as martial arts, shooting, and driving. Because these were all disciplines traditionally considered strong for men, Thuy suffered several serious injuries during training. On one occasion, while practicing martial arts, she was injured and had to miss a month of classes. However, thanks to her diligent training and hard work, Thuy consistently achieved scores above 8 in all physical fitness subjects.

Speaking about her daily routine of studying and training, Thuy said: “My morning starts at 5 a.m. with attendance check and exercise, then I go to class. The afternoon is similar to the morning; I continue attending classes, and in the evening I study on my own in my room. Because I'm studying and training at school, plus contributing articles to several newspapers, my day usually ends at 1 a.m.”

In addition, Thuy is very enthusiastic and actively participates in the school's youth union and arts activities. As the Youth Union Secretary in charge of the high-quality class, Thuy also acts as an MC for programs organized by the school.

Driven by a desire to excel in her studies to live up to her parents' expectations and set a good example for her younger siblings, Thuy consistently achieved the title of "Excellent Student" throughout her five years of study, receiving 28 commendations from the school and the General Department of Police. In her second year, Thuy began conducting scientific research, writing dissertations, and winning numerous awards. Notably, her research on the defense rights of lawyers during criminal investigations earned her second prize. This coming September, Thuy will have the honor of receiving the Outstanding Youth Award from the Ministry of Public Security.

After graduating from the People's Police Academy, Thuy was assigned to work at the Nghe An Provincial Police Department. The top-scoring graduate hopes to find a position that suits her abilities. If given the opportunity, Thuy hopes to continue her education at a higher level.
