Female leader gathers youth using Facebook

(Baonghean) - During her time working for the Youth Union, Phan Thi Hao, former Secretary of the Youth Union of Hamlet 17, Hung Thang Commune, actively used Facebook to gather and mobilize youth union members.

Growing up from the grassroots movement, Phan Thi Hao always determined that she needed to learn and follow Uncle Ho right from the normal and simple daily activities. With that thought, Hao has constantly studied and improved herself.

In the past time, with his creativity and enthusiasm in the role of Secretary, Hao has brought the Youth Union activities and youth movement of the hamlet into order. Faced with difficulties in uniting and gathering young people, Phan Thi Hao has used many ways to “retain” young people and “keep the fire” of the Youth Union movement alive. Starting with simple tasks such as organizing cultural and artistic activities, teaching folk songs, aiming to create a fun and vibrant environment to unite union members.

Grasping the trends of young people, Phan Hao proactively applied social networks in managing and organizing the activities of the Union. The Facebook page "Xom 17 Hung Thang" from a convenient communication and notification channel, has become a small news page with rich content, promptly updating propaganda, education and activities of the Union branch, higher-level Union and local government to a large number of young Union members. At the same time, it is an effective interactive channel for the Union branch to promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of young Union members and orient public opinion among young people on social issues.

After gathering members and young people, he realized that the main source of income for the union fund was only the monthly contributions of members, so it was very limited. Therefore, in order to "enrich" the union fund, Hao created good ways to do things, created a separate direction, and brought about practical results. Observing that in the village, there were still bottles and jars littered everywhere, Hao launched a campaign in the union branch to collect bottles and jars, both to propagate environmental protection awareness among the union members and the people, and to have a source of funds to raise funds.

With practical and meaningful purposes, the hamlet group received the consensus of the Youth Union members, not only on the launching day, but also in their free time, they took advantage of collecting scrap metal to raise funds. Hao also boldly proposed to the local leaders to let the union members and youth undertake dredging of canals, environmental sanitation, and renovation of cultural houses, etc., thereby collecting funds for the activities of the Union. "Although the work is simple, it demonstrates the thrift and self-awareness of the union members, and is also a form of gathering and uniting the youth," Phan Thi Hao shared.

Not stopping there, taking advantage of the spread and connection of social networking sites, Hao has used the social network Facebook, with a gentle, skillful and quick propaganda method, the Facebook page has become an information channel to support the promotion of the activities of the Youth Union. From there, it attracts and calls for social resources to expand the funding source for the activities of the Youth Union. Many local children working far away have voluntarily participated in supporting and responding to the activities organized by the Youth Union.

With creative ways of doing things with the motto of "saving up small amounts to make a lot", self-collection, self-spending, the annual operating fund of the Youth Union is always at 16 - 18 million VND. With the self-created fund, the Youth Union has made many contributions to social security work in the locality such as: visiting and giving gifts to families with preferential policies, families in difficult circumstances, giving books to poor and studious students. The Youth Union also organizes birthday parties, supports sick and happy people. In addition, thanks to the stable fund, the Youth Union also participates well in movements organized by the higher-level Youth Union, attracting a large number of young union members to participate.

Having just moved to a new position at the Women's Union of Hung Thang commune, Phan Thi Hao continues to promote the pioneering role of an enthusiastic, creative and passionate young party member. However, with the union organization, Hao is still a comrade, a sister and a friend of the Youth Union members. Phan Thi Hao affirmed: "The Secretary is just a "bridge". If the Union wants to be strong, it must rely on enthusiastic and passionate union members. For the Union to truly be a friend of the youth, it must be really close to and understand the psychology of each youth group. Only activities and movements suitable for each group and specific age group can have their own vitality and sustainability".
