Female 'leader' mobilizes 400 members to donate land to open roads
(Baonghean.vn) - With her exemplary, dynamic and creative spirit, Ms. Vo Thi Van - President of the Women's Union of Que Son Commune, Que Phong not only helped many poor women in the area build models for family economic development but also mobilized 400 members to donate 28,500m2land for rural roads
Born in 1986, although still quite young, but enthusiastic and dedicated, in 2010, Ms. Vo Thi Van was elected as the President of the Women's Union of Que Son commune. In her position as "leader", she always wondered how to put activities into practice in a way that is both specific, practical and attractive, attracting women to participate.

Based on the local reality (economic production conditions and awareness of some people are still limited, so economic development is difficult, the poverty rate is high), Ms. Vo Thi Van, together with the Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of the Commune Women's Union, developed a program and plan to mobilize members to build savings tubes, support working days to help women in especially difficult circumstances overcome.
In 2016, the branches donated 5.3 million VND and 138 working days, helping 34 especially disadvantaged member families overcome their circumstances.
In addition, Ms. Van and the Standing Committee of the Association mobilized female members in 12 branches to save a total of more than 264 million VND for members to borrow to develop the economy and reduce poverty.
The commune's Women's Union also entrusted the district's Social Policy Bank to manage nearly 5 billion VND, helping 192 member households and women borrow capital to develop production and build high-income economic models.
Currently, the association has 4 provincial-level integrated livestock farm models, 26 family-farm models, VAC-VACR owned by women, with annual income ranging from 150 million to under 1 billion VND. In addition, there are hundreds of other member families whose annual goods value ranges from 50 million to under 150 million VND.
In addition to uniting and gathering female members to help each other in developing family economy, building a prosperous, happy, equal and progressive family, in her position as the chairwoman of the commune women's association, Ms. Van also directed the branches to actively participate in new rural construction movements. The most impressive of which was mobilizing nearly 400 members to donate land to expand rural roads, with an area of nearly 28,500m2.2. Among them, there are members who donated nearly 500m.2, contributing to helping the locality achieve 14/19 new rural criteria.

Commenting on the activities of the "leader" of the women in the commune, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Secretary of the Party Committee of Que Son commune assessed: "Over the past years, comrade Vo Thi Van has always actively worked with the Executive Committee and the Executive Committee of the Women's Union of the commune to find solutions to both improve the spiritual life of women in the highlands and deepen the movements of the union, especially the economic development movement, contributing to the effective implementation of the poverty reduction project according to the new rural construction program."
