Female cashier 'embezzled' 2.5 billion VND to transfer to scammer

According to initial information, before the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, Ms. TNM (born in 1990, residing in Dac Ooc village, La Dee commune, Nam Giang district, Quang Nam; treasurer, secretary of La Dee commune People's Committee) went to La Dee commune police to confess.

Ms. M. stated that on November 20, 2024, a Facebook account suggested that she participate in the lottery through social networks and put her in a group on the Telegram application.

Here, Ms. M. was informed by a person in the group that she had won a prize. Then, from November 21, 2024 to November 24, 2024, Ms. M. deposited money many times into the bank account numbers provided by the above person to receive the prize, with a total amount of more than 1.06 billion VND. Of which, Ms. M.'s personal amount was more than 50 million VND, and she borrowed 100 million VND from relatives. For the remaining amount, Ms. M. took advantage of her position as treasurer of the People's Committee of La Dee commune to open the safe and take money to spend on commune activities with an amount of 970 million VND.

From December 18, 2024 to January 24, 2025, Ms. M. was asked by a Zalo account to pay a fee to get back the transferred amount. At this time, Ms. M. transferred money many times to bank accounts as requested by the subject, with a total amount of about 1.5 billion VND. Ms. M. continued to take advantage of her position as treasurer to "embezzle" all of this money from the People's Committee of La Dee commune.

Only when the People's Committee of the commune repeatedly urged her to pay the payments did Ms. M. go to the La Dee Commune Police to confess. The total amount of money from the People's Committee of La Dee Commune that Ms. M. confessed to taking was about 2.5 billion VND.
