Flight attendant will continue to "fly" if crowned Miss Vietnam

Among the 25 contestants who passed the Northern Finals, Pham Ngoc Linh attracted attention with her lovely face and bright, attractive smile. She is also one of the candidates considered quite "heavyweight" in the Miss Vietnam 2018 contest.

Pham Ngoc Linh was born in 1995, she is currently a flight attendant, 1.68m tall with measurements: 82-59-91.

As a student, Ngoc Linh participated in the "Foreign Trade Charm" contest in 2015 and won the "Miss Business" award.

In October 2017, she was chosen as the Tourism Ambassador of Yamanashi Prefecture (Japan) in Vietnam. The beauty can communicate well in two foreign languages, English and Japanese.

Recently, the beauty shared about the contest with VietNamNet.

- What is your purpose of participating in the Miss Vietnam 2018 contest?

When I joined the contest, I wanted to contribute more to the social community. I myself have experience participating in social activities, but when I joined, I encountered many difficulties, which was calling for sponsorship.

So I joined the contest to build my name, to be known by more people so that I can call for funding more easily, more people trust me so that I can do more projects.

- As a tourism ambassador in Japan, when participating in the Miss Vietnam contest, do you aim to participate in the Miss International contest held in Japan?

Participating in international competitions is also a way to contribute to the community, making more people aware of your message. If I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to participate in the Miss International contest in Japan, it will definitely be an honor and a great opportunity for me.

There are many factors to evaluate and choose a person worthy of the title of Miss. The organizers and the audience all want to find a young, energetic, enthusiastic girl, but that is not enough. She must also be a profound, moral person. For me, the person crowned Miss Vietnam must be a mature woman in every aspect.

-So what advantages do you see that you have that fit that standard?

I am 23 years old, not the perfect age to be crowned, but I feel confident with my experience. People often say that beauty pageants are held to find flowers that are about to bloom. Perhaps I am a flower that has bloomed quite a bit.

Besides, I am also very confident in my knowledge. I have researched a lot about culture and history, so I can confidently convey to everyone the most beautiful image of Vietnamese women.

Before joining the contest, I was a very shy person, not a talkative person, but when I joined the contest, gradually that lack of confidence turned into my confidence. So, to answer this question, perhaps the thing I am most confident about and also the thing I am most insecure about is my ability to communicate with people.

- Historically, beauty queens are usually over 1.7m tall, but you are only 1.68m tall. Do you think that is a disadvantage for you?

Most beauty queens are over 1.7m tall, but there are still those who are under 1.7m tall. I think physical height is just one of the small factors to evaluate, height in personality and knowledge is the important thing. So I think, being only 2cm short is not a barrier for me to reach my dream.

- If you achieve your dream, how do you think your life will change?

Becoming a flight attendant is not only my dream but also the dream of many other girls. I have experienced a lot in this profession. Not only are we a simple waiter, we are also the ones who protect the safety of passengers on the plane.

No one can say for sure that they will stick with a certain job for the rest of their lives. I think I will be a flight attendant until I lose my passion, when I still want to fly in the sky. If I am lucky enough to win a high prize in the competition, I think it will just be a title. After that, I still have to go back to my life. If I become a flight attendant, it will help me become a bridge, spreading Vietnamese culture through images on the plane.

I don't find it strange when people say Miss Vietnam is a flight attendant because it is a noble profession. Every flight brings me good experiences and emotions so I still want to continue doing that.

-Before that, what opportunities did the title of ambassador in a Japanese province bring you?

In October 2017, I was chosen as the Tourism Ambassador of Yamanashi Prefecture (Japan) in Vietnam. That was my luck. In Japan, it is called the title of princess - a noble title for young girls with beauty and dedication, wishing to contribute more.

This is also the first time Vietnam has a princess in this province. I act as a tourism bridge between Vietnam and Japan.

- What do you think when you are evaluated as a person with the ability to speak and the qualities of a leader?

I am happy to be commented like that but I have never thought of myself as a leader in the group. Maybe, I am older than you guys so I just want to share with everyone what I know. Maybe at some point, I unintentionally showed myself as a leader but the important thing is that we all created a good result.

When I entered the competition, I just wanted to do my best. I think everyone has their own color and so do I. But I believe in my own color. There is no pressure to believe and express yourself honestly.

- What image of woman do you want to aim for?

I intend to build my image in one word “woman”. That is the best word to describe a woman. A girl will grow up to be a woman. But not every girl grows up to be a woman. A woman must be experienced, experienced and have a certain gentleness and maturity without overshadowing her youthfulness and freshness. That is what I aim for every day.
