The aforementioned incident relates to the French government allegedly compensating billionaire Tapie 400 million euros to settle a dispute involving a state-owned bank in 2007. Ms. Lagarde is suspected of being involved in the misuse of public funds.
Ms. Lagarde has served as IMF Managing Director since June 2011, after her predecessor, Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn, resigned due to a sexual misconduct scandal.
