(Baonghean)As the Head of Hung Dung Ward Health Station since 2005, there is no job that she does not have to handle, but whenever she meets her, she is always warm and enthusiastic. Therefore, the people in the area affectionately call her "Mrs. Thuan" even though she has not yet become a Mrs....

Having been a midwife since 1978, when she was still in her twenties, in 2000, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan was able to attend a general nursing class. After 34 years in the profession, there has not been a day when she has stopped worrying about the "daughter-in-law of a hundred families". Sometimes, as soon as she was holding a bowl of rice, someone would call out, "Mrs. Thuan, come and take a look at my child", so she had to put down the half-eaten bowl of rice and rush into the night, in the rain and wind. She alone struggled with first aid cases due to accidents caused by firecrackers, births that happened right at the moment of New Year's Eve... At that time, when people still gave birth at the station, sometimes she was alone with 3 cases, when "mother and child were safe" it was also the moment the sky was just getting light, she was rushing with the work of a new day.

For 4 years now, she has not been a midwife, but there has not been a day when she is out of work, with the thought that as long as she is loved by the people, she will devote herself to her best. In order to make the health promotion work most effective, she has been struggling to compose "health poems" and then printed them into books and distributed them to the hamlets. In 2010, Hung Dung Medical Station was the first station to build a propaganda bookcase with many useful books on health, which were read by hundreds of local people. Although there are 3 large hospitals, the station always welcomes many people in the area to come for medical examination and treatment. To reduce the burden on the upper-level hospitals, Ms. Thuan and her colleagues always wholeheartedly serve the people.

She confided that she was able to concentrate on her work and be loved and trusted by the villagers because she had a supportive and backing family. Sometimes she could not fulfill her role as a good wife to cook delicious meals for her family, but her husband, a 1/4 disabled veteran, always encouraged her: "Come home to eat, go or people will wait, what a pity!", and he always kept in mind: "With one more day left, I must serve the villagers well. The more loved I am, the more I must keep my word." His words were also what she always reminded herself of during her years working at the Hung Dung Ward Health Station.

With her diligence and positivity, she was awarded a certificate of merit for being a good propagandist, participated in the national competition for excellent propagandists in 1997, and was awarded the Medal for People's Health, and was an Emulation Fighter of the department. Currently, she is urgently completing the experience initiative: "Treatment of thrush (mouth infection) in children from birth to 12 months old".

Her two children, the older one graduating from Hanoi University of Commerce and the younger one studying at Hanoi University of Transport, are her greatest rewards. She said that next year she will be allowed to retire by the State, but the saying “A doctor is like a kind mother” will always follow her throughout her life.
