Nur Izwani Azman has had an explanation with the Football Association of Malaysia. |
Malaysian Olympic Committee Secretary Datuk Low Beng Choo said that two athletes violated curfew regulations earlier this week and the host country of the 29th SEA Games is investigating. One of the two who returned to the hotel after 11:30 p.m. was female futsal player Nur Izwani Azman.
“I have not yet received the official investigation report on the two violations, so it is not convenient for me to comment or talk about punishments, everything will have to wait. However, the concentration of the athletes is very important, especially when the 29th SEA Games is only a few days away. Malaysia hopes to have the best position in the delegation and the responsibility is on the shoulders of the athletes,” said Head of the Malaysian Sports Delegation Marina Chin.
More than 700 Malaysian athletes are stationed at training centers and hotels to prepare for the 29th SEA Games. According to regulations, they are not allowed to stay outside after 11:30 p.m.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has also launched an investigation into allegations that female player Nur Izwani Azman violated curfew. However, Secretary General Hamidin Mohd Amin said the incident was a mistake.
“We have heard the explanation from the team leader. At the same time, the video also shows that Nur Izwani left the hotel lobby to return to her room at 10:55 pm, after meeting her relatives. The accusation that she only returned to the hotel at 0:30 am is not true,” said Secretary General Hamidin Mohd Amin. “We regret the accusation made by Mr. Low Beng Choo. FAM will contact and explain clearly to him. Nur Izwani will definitely still be in the list of 16 futsal players of Malaysia competing at the 29th SEA Games.”
