Giang Man Mountain, a painful place where deforestation often occurs

During the investigation and verification processdeforestation on Giang Man mountainjust happened on April 13 and was discovered on April 18, 2023, Nghe An Newspaper reporters also received information that this mountain range is where natural deforestation often occurs, causing the natural forest area here to continuously shrink.
Specifically, in early 2023, in the production forest area of lots 7, 12, compartment 4, plot 170, sub-area 1008, map sheet number 2, Thanh Ha commune, in the Giang Man mountain area in Thanh Ha commune, there was a case of natural forest destruction. The subjects took advantage of the natural forest being adjacent to the planted forest to cut down and expand the acacia plantation. After discovering the incident and identifying the subjects of the destruction, the authorities in Thanh Chuong district immediately completed the dossier and submitted it to the Thanh Chuong district People's Committee to issue a decision to impose an administrative penalty.

On April 4, 2023, Thanh Chuong District People's Committee issued Decision No. 681/QD-XPHC to administratively sanction Dinh Xuan Thong (born in 1974), residing in Bac Tran hamlet, Thanh Mai commune, for illegally destroying forests on an area of 1,916 square meters, at lot 12, plot 4, plot 170, sub-area 1008, map sheet 2, Thanh Ha commune. The amount of money that Dinh Xuan Thong was fined was 37.5 million VND, forcing him to replant the forest until it became a forest on the area that had been cut down.
Also on April 4, the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district issued Decision No. 682/QD-XPHC to fine Nguyen Kim Niem (born in 1984), residing in Truong Son hamlet, Thanh Mai commune, VND 62.5 million for illegal deforestation in the production forest area of lots 7, 12, compartment 4, plot 170, sub-area 1008, map sheet No. 2, Thanh Ha commune. The area of forest destroyed by Niem is 2,458 square meters.
In addition to the fine, Nguyen Kim Niem was also subject to additional penalties such as confiscation of evidence, tools, and means of violation. At the same time, he was forced to replant the forest until it became a forest on the destroyed area of 2,458 square meters.

More specifically, according to information from Thanh Chuong Forest Protection Department, the production forest area assigned to Mr. Cao Trong Hong (residing in Thai Hoa Town) for management, where the deforestation occurred on April 13, had also occurred not long ago, located not far behind the illegally built "mansion". However, because the deforestation subject could not be caught, it was not possible to impose administrative penalties.
Regarding the deforestation case that occurred at Ru Do, in the Giang Man range, which was discovered on April 18, the authorities in Thanh Chuong district are still continuing to investigate and clarify.
