Rising floodwaters have cut off National Highway 48 again following the remnants of Typhoon No. 3.
National Highway 48, the section passing through Chau Binh, Quy Chau, and Chau Tien communes (formerly part of Quy Chau district), is deeply flooded, and all vehicles are prohibited from passing through.
According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, circulation of typhoon number 3Heavy rainfall has occurred in the western mountainous region of Nghe An province, with common rainfall amounts ranging from 120 to 200mm, and in many places exceeding 300mm (in the past 24 hours). The widespread heavy rain has caused the Hieu River, flowing through the northwestern communes of Nghe An, to rise, resulting in flooding on some sections of National Highway 48.

In Quy Chau commune (formed by the merger of Chau Hanh, Chau Hoi, Chau Nga communes and Tan Lac town of the former Quy Chau district), due to prolonged heavy rain, the Hieu River rose rapidly from the night of July 22nd, causing deep flooding on a section of National Highway 48 passing through the Bu Bai slope area bordering Quy Chau and Chau Tien communes.

In Chau Binh commune, the rapidly rising floodwaters cut off National Highway 48 and submerged many houses.

Mr. Lo Van The, Chairman of the Chau Binh Commune People's Committee, said: "Right on the night of July 22nd, floodwaters rose rapidly, causing deep flooding in many areas. In response, the local Party committee and government mobilized forces such as the military and police, implementing the 'four on-the-spot' principle to help and support households affected by the floods; barricades were erected at deeply flooded points on National Highway 48 to restrict vehicle traffic."

It is known that in 2023, Chau Binh commune also experienced similar flooding.
