Floodwaters rise, National Highway 48 continues to be cut off after storm No. 3
National Highway 48, through Chau Binh, Quy Chau, and Chau Tien communes (belonging to the old Quy Chau district), is deeply flooded, and all vehicles are not allowed to pass.
According to information from the Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting,Storm circulation number 3caused very heavy rain in the western mountainous area of Nghe An province with rainfall ranging from 120 - 200mm, many places over 300mm (in the past 24 hours). The heavy rainfall over a large area caused the water level of Hieu River flowing through the communes in the northwest of Nghe An to rise, causing flooding in some sections of National Highway 48.

In Quy Chau commune (merged with Chau Hanh, Chau Hoi, Chau Nga communes and Tan Lac town of the old Quy Chau district), due to prolonged heavy rain, since the night of July 22, the water level of Hieu river rose rapidly, causing the section of National Highway 48 passing through Bu Bai slope in the border area of Quy Chau commune and Chau Tien commune to be deeply flooded.

In Chau Binh commune, flood water rose rapidly, cutting off National Highway 48 and inundating many houses.

Mr. Lo Van The - Chairman of Chau Binh Commune People's Committee said: On the night of July 22, flood water rose rapidly, causing many areas in the area to be deeply flooded. Faced with that situation, local authorities mobilized forces such as military and police, promoting the spirit of "4 on-the-spot" to help and support flooded households; set up barriers at deeply flooded areas on National Highway 48, restricting traffic.

It is known that in 2023, Chau Binh commune also suffered similar floods.
