Hieu River water level rises, people proactively raise furniture, prepare boats to cope with flood
The water level of Hieu River has risen due to the influence of storm No. 3 and flood discharge from hydroelectric plants, causing some areas in Thai Hoa Ward to face the risk of flooding. Currently, people have proactively raised their belongings and prepared boats to respond.

At Hieu bridge area, Hieu river water is flowing rapidly and rising. At Long Ha block, one of the areas with the highest risk of flooding in Thai Hoa ward, many areas of sugarcane, corn, and acacia have been submerged by floodwaters.
Mr. Vo Cong Sinh - a resident of Long Ha block said: "The water rose very quickly this morning, it flooded the garden and started to flood the outbuildings and fences. I am trying to raise my belongings, the authorities have also requested the evacuation of important items to prevent the flood from coming in at night."

Sharing the same worried mood, Ms. Tran Thi Mai - a resident living close to the riverbank in Long Ha block shared: "The river water has reached the area of the family's chicken coop. We have evacuated some of our belongings and plan to move the chickens to a relative's house tonight for safety. We probably won't dare sleep all night, just afraid that the water will rise too quickly and we won't have time to react."

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan - a resident of Long Ha block with a large sugarcane growing area in the area, his 6 acres of sugarcane have been completely flooded. If the water does not recede soon, the risk of total loss is very high.

Currently, Long Ha block has about 10 households in the area at risk of deep flooding if the flood continues to rise. Fully aware of the danger, most residents have prepared evacuation plans. Some households with the means have proactively prepared boats and anchored them right next to the bank of Hieu River, ready to use when the water floods into their houses.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Nghia Thai - Chairman of Thai Hoa Ward People's Committee said: "As soon as we received the flood warning, the ward deployed the "4 on-site" plan. We sent forces directly to each household in Long Ha block to mobilize and instruct people to raise their assets, prepare vehicles, and at the same time organize a review of households at risk of deep flooding to have a timely evacuation plan."

In addition, the ward has also directed relevant units to urgently check and clear the sewer system and drainage canals to ensure that the flow is not blocked. The authorities are still closely monitoring the water level of Hieu River, ready to have a response plan when the flood rises.
