Raising climbing fish in earthen ponds has twice the income compared to raising them in cages.
(Baonghean.vn) - For the first time, Con Cuong district has successfully built a model of raising climbing fish for sale in earthen ponds, bringing in twice the income compared to cage farming.

In May 2017, the Con Cuong District Agricultural Extension Station piloted a commercial climbing fish farming model at Mr. La Van Hoi's family in Tan Hop village, Luc Da commune; including 100% support for fish breeds (each fish costs about 15,000 VND), and 60% of industrial feed.
Thanks to being trained in care techniques as well as how to clean ponds, in addition to industrial food, Mr. Hoi also feeds the fish with crushed snails and crabs, so the fish grow quickly.

Climbing fish have many advantages: fast growth, delicious meat, 9 months of raising time and after 6 months can be harvested for sale. Up to now, climbing fish in Mr. Hoi's pond have reached an average weight of 1.5kg/fish.
Currently, climbing fish on the market costs from 110,000 to 130,000 VND/kg. Thus, it is estimated that the commercial climbing fish model at Mr. Hoi's household brings in revenue of nearly 100 million VND. After deducting expenses, the model brings in a profit of approximately 70 million VND.
From the success of this model, Con Cuong district plans to replicate it to bring income to people in remote areas.
