VietGAP tilapia farming reaches over 15 tons/ha
(Baonghean.vn) - The model of raising monosex tilapia according to VietGAP in Duc Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district has had positive results, with a survival rate of 85% and an expected yield of 15.3 tons/ha.

Implemented since April 2017, the model of raising monosex tilapia according to VietGAP was deployed at Mr. Nguyen Quy Cu's household in Chau Linh hamlet, Duc Thanh commune on a water surface area of 0.5ha; with a density of 5 fish/m2The model is under the responsibility of Yen Thanh Agricultural Extension Station.
Through practical evaluation, the model has brought positive results, the survival rate of fish reached 85%, the expected yield reached 15.3 tons/ha, an increase of more than 18% compared to the control model; all technical indicators met and exceeded the requirements. After deducting expenses, the model earned a profit of more than 23 million VND in 6 months of farming.

Monosex tilapia is a freshwater fish, easy to raise, fast growing, less susceptible to diseases, delicious meat; can be processed for export food. Therefore, raising fish according to the VietGAP model has opened up a new direction in aquaculture development. Currently in Yen Thanh, there is a stable consumer market, creating safe and hygienic food products, associated with job creation for rural workers.

At a recent workshop, delegates proposed that Nghe An Agricultural Extension Center continue to implement the model in other ecological sub-regions in the 2018-2020 period, contributing to the local economic and social development.
