According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, whose family is in Hamlet 11, Long Son Commune, one of the households benefiting from this model: After the Agricultural Extension Station provided 350 chicks, her family invested in building standard chicken coops using biological bedding. During the rearing process, her family also received inspections and guidance on care and vaccination techniques from agricultural extension officers in Anh Son District, resulting in no disease outbreaks, negligible losses, and rapid growth of the chickens.
"The advantage of this hybrid free-range chicken is that it grows faster and weighs more than local free-range chickens, and its meat is delicious, making it popular in the market," Ms. Huong added.
In August 2016, the Anh Son District Agricultural Extension Station provided 700 chicks to two households in Hamlet 11, Long Son Commune, with a total cost of over 60 million VND. Each household received 350 one-day-old chicks, feed, and guidance on constructing standard chicken coops. In addition, the households were provided with disease control medications, strict adherence to vaccination schedules, and ensured adequate protein, minerals, and vitamins in their feed.

Thanks to proper free-range farming practices, after more than two months of raising, the average weight of each chicken reached 1.7 to 2 kg. With a selling price of 100,000 - 120,000 VND/kg, it is estimated that after three months, farmers earn a profit of over 40 million VND per batch of 350 chickens.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Phung, an agricultural extension officer in Anh Son district, shared: "Traditionally raised chickens are very susceptible to respiratory and intestinal diseases, resulting in high mortality rates and slow growth. However, when implementing the VietGAP-oriented model, these diseases are significantly improved. The chickens grow faster, and their weight is significantly higher than that of local breeds."
