Raising super lean pigs earns billions
(Baonghean.vn) - Raising super lean pigs on a large scale, in a closed process, ensuring hygiene, applying the "interlacing" method, both reduces costs and increases farming efficiency. Thanks to that, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chau Anh's family in Phu Loc hamlet, Nghia Phu commune, Nghia Dan earned nearly 1 billion VND.per year.
Worried about changing direction to get rich, Ms. Anh diligently learned through the media and visited farm models in the area. She realized that raising super lean pigs in the direction of modern, safe farming on a large scale is very suitable for local conditions (large land, abundant animal feed sources ...).
Since 2015, she has invested in building a 2-hectare farm including pig pens and fish ponds to utilize leftover food and by-products from livestock farming.

Sharing her experience in raising super lean pigs, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chau Anh said: "To raise super lean pigs well, first of all, the barn must always be clean and the breeding environment must be regularly disinfected. In addition, it is necessary to vaccinate the pigs and provide them with a diet that ensures adequate nutrition." She also invested in installing a biogas digester system and waste treatment to minimize environmental pollution.
In the first year, Ms. Anh invested in raising 450 pigs. Thanks to applying the correct technical process and preventing and treating diseases on schedule, her family's pigs grew well and brought high economic efficiency. When the pigs were about to be sold, her family bought breeding pigs for the new batch. Each year, her family sold 8-10 batches.
The animal feed used by her family is mainly agricultural by-products, rice bran, and corn to both save costs and ensure the quality of the pork is firm and delicious. Every year, Ms. Anh's family sells about 1,000-1,200 pigs, weighing 100-120kg/pig; earning nearly one billion VND in profit. Besides raising super lean pigs, her family also uses livestock by-products to raise fish, earning over 50-70 million VND/year.
Mr. Truong Quang Thang, Chairman of Nghia Phu Commune People's Committee, said: "From the success of the super lean pig farming model of Ms. Nguyen Thi Chau Anh's family, the commune will organize for local people to visit, learn, and replicate, in order to take advantage of the local advantages of large land to develop farms and animal feed sources, contributing to increasing income for local farmers."
