(Baonghean.vn) - Many households in Anh Son district (Nghe An) are promoting the development of commercial rabbit farming. Initially, this profession has brought practical economic benefits to breeders.
Realizing that the rabbit farming model has low initial costs and fast capital turnover, in 2015, Mr. Pham Cong Truong, village 2, Dinh Son commune, started implementing the model. To date, the rabbit herd has increased to more than 70 rabbits. Mr. Truong's income from selling rabbits for meat and breeding rabbits brings in 2-3 million VND per month. |
Rabbits are easy to raise, profitable, and have few diseases. Rabbits can mate and give birth to many at 5 months old. Every year, rabbits give birth to about 7-8 litters, with an average of 8 rabbits per litter. |
The rabbits are only 1 week old. Currently, Dinh Son people are raising mainly local rabbits and New Zealand hybrids. |
Rabbit food sources are abundant and easy to find, such as sweet potato vines, cassava leaves, and natural leafy plants. |
After 3 months of raising, the weight reaches 2.5 - 3 kg/head and can be sold. |
The farm is also quite simple, does not take up much space, and the investment cost is not large. |
From the initial 4 households, up to now, the whole Dinh Son commune has had 20 households switching from traditional pig and chicken farming to rabbit farming. In addition, communes such as Hoi Son, Hoa Son, Tuong Son have also participated in the rabbit farming model. This is a new economic development direction that helps Anh Son people develop the economy and improve their lives. |
