Raising wild ducks brings high profits in Anh Son
(Baonghean.vn) - In 2016, the Department of Science and Technology selected the project to pilot a model of breeding wild ducks. After surveying, Anh Son district chose to pilot the breeding at 2 farms.
That is Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuyen's farm in Bai Da hamlet, Phuc Son commune with a scale of 400 pigs and Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung's farm in hamlet 2, Long Son commune with a scale of 200 pigs.

Participating in the model, farm owners are supported with money for breeds and food, of which the model in Long Son commune is supported with 14 million VND, the model in Phuc Son commune is supported with 28 million VND.
After 6 months of implementation, through evaluation at Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuyen's farm, it was shown that the model is very suitable for the natural conditions in the streams, ponds and lakes in Anh Son district, the ducks grow and develop well.
Farm owners clean the barns and vaccinate fully according to the instructions of technical staff, so the disease is limited, the survival rate of ducks is 95%. The average weight of 4-month-old ducks is 1.25 kg/duck, the meat quality is delicious, favored by consumers, with an average selling price of 100,000 VND/kg.

Currently, the owner of the model has selected 100 qualified parent ducks for breeding. At this time, the ducks have begun to reproduce. It is expected that if the ducks reproduce normally and are hatched and bred, after 4-5 months, they will earn 144.6 million VND, after deducting expenses, the profit will be 74.3 million VND.
From the initial effectiveness of the wild duck farming model, Anh Son district will continue to expand it in the area in the coming time. Accordingly, in 2017, Anh Son strives to expand 4 more models in localities with large ponds, lakes and dams. The district will also have a policy mechanism to support part of the costs for breeds and food for households for the initially expanded models./.
