From another perspective, MU did not fail!
“If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life as a fool” - Albert Einstein once said.
From another perspective, MU did not fail!
Jose Mourinho is having the darkest days of his coaching career. In terms of image, he has failed miserably. In terms of expertise, he has become outdated. People can look at MU's "unforgettable" defeats to point out Mourinho's failures in any aspect: tactical planning, the use of people, the ability to read the game, the ability to judge opponents...

Mourinho the special one has nothing special. |
But in short, what is Mourinho's purpose in coming to Old Trafford? Is it to compete with Pep Guardiola in the "noisy neighbor", and then consider the race for the top spot in the Premier League? Is it to rebuild a MU that has always been the dominant team in England in the Premier League era, rather than to win or lose in the first season? We don't know, simply because we are not Mourinho.
Small example: suppose Mourinho knew that he was "out of date", knew clearly that he could not catch up with Conte, Guardiola, Klopp, Pochettino..., but he came to Old Trafford simply to receive a salary of 15 million pounds/year, then he... would not have failed!
If anything, what has happened in the Premier League in the last 9 rounds is a failure of MU - and that is only a failure on the field, a failure in the race with the top teams. People call it "MU's failure" because people only care about what happens on the field and the race in the Premier League through each round.
For a giant team in many fields like MU, winning or losing on the field is not everything. Therefore, the "short-term" failure on the field, in the professional field, is not necessarily a total failure for the Glazer family - the owners of MU.
Here is another example: Ronald Koeman is leading Everton quite successfully, standing above MU in the Premier League rankings. He is a good coach. But he is not very famous. How much would the stock of Manchester United plc, with the code MANU listed on the New York Stock Exchange, increase/decrease if MU announced Koeman to lead the Red Devils instead of Mourinho?
While fans are furious about MU's professional failures and losing points on the pitch, the Glazer family may be more concerned about Wall Street scores. They value the immediate impact of the head coach's name on the stock price, rather than the coach's ability to adjust tactics during the match.
To be frank, it is not certain that the MU “bosses” are knowledgeable about top-level football, understand the principles of the 4-2-3-1 formation, and see the “outdated” part in Mourinho’s coaching style. Who decided to let Mourinho keep the position of MU head coach? Of course, in the end, it is still only Mourinho and the American bosses - each person decides according to their own interests.

Meanwhile, “super agent” Jorge Mendes and executive vice president Ed Woodward were the ones directly negotiating. Woodward is a financial/banking expert, an advisor to the Glazer family during the process of acquiring MU, and was given full authority to run the team. As for “10% gentlemen” like Mendes, they need no introduction.
Please give some advice to help MU fans shake off the sadness of defeat. Instead of cheering for MU, turn to cheer for Manchester United plc, or the money printing machine called MU. Look at Forbes instead of the Premier League, ponder over financial reports instead of pondering over Paul Pogba's playing style!
