Pollution in the Nam Cam industrial zone
(Baonghean.vn) – In the cold winter weather, the stretch of road passing through the entrance to the Nam Cam industrial park is filled with a strong, foul odor emanating from the drainage ditches on both sides.

The two ditches along the Nam Cam - Cua Lo road are filled with thick, black wastewater that emits a foul, pungent odor.
The culprits behind the pollution are Minh Thai Son Joint Stock Company, which specializes in processing fish starch, and Hai An Private Enterprise, which produces frozen seafood products.

The sewage pipe carries dirty wastewater from Minh Thai Son Joint Stock Company and Hai An Limited Liability Company into the rice fields.
Local residents expressed their outrage at having to live in a polluted environment. They referred to these companies as "stinky fish" companies. Many said that because wastewater flows around the Nam Cam industrial zone, entire hamlets 5, 11, and even 3 (about 3km from the factory) suffer from the foul smell of wastewater.
Moreover, in the fields contaminated by wastewater, people cannot produce crops for fear of health consequences. Mr. Dinh Tuan, a farmer from Hamlet 3, Nghi Xa Commune, angrily stated: “The foul, putrid smell spreads throughout the area. Eating rice feels like eating rotten fish sauce…”

Polluted wastewater has encroached upon a large area of farmland surrounding the Nam Cam industrial zone's perimeter wall.
Ms. Hoang Van Thai (a resident of Hamlet 5, Nghi Xa Commune): “My head hurts from the foul smell of the wastewater…”.
Not only does Minh Thai Son Joint Stock Company discharge dirty wastewater, but its chimney also emits foul-smelling fumes.
Reportedly, due to extreme frustration, local residents had previously filed complaints with the district authorities and had clashes with employees of these companies.
