Pickup trucks have big price drops: Forget about tax increase worries

Entering July, the car price reduction race in Vietnam has not shown any signs of cooling down. Car manufacturers are still competing to launch many incentive programs and discounts on all car models, including the best-selling pickup trucks.

This July, Ford car brand applies a cash gift program for most of its car models in Vietnam, in which the EcoSport model is reduced by up to 68 million VND, the B-class car model - Fiesta Titanium 1.5L is discounted by 43 million VND and the Focus Trend EcoBoost 1.5L model has a gift of 28 million VND.

Notably, the "king" of pickup trucks, Ford Ranger, continues to receive huge incentives. In particular, the highest-end version of Ranger, Wildtrack 3.2L AT 4x4, is being sold at 880-870 million VND, a reduction of 45-55 million VND compared to the listed price. The Wildtrak 2.2L AT 4x4 version is reduced by 30-40 million VND, bringing the selling price of this model to just over 820 million VND.

In particular, the version with the highest discount among all Ranger versions is the XLT 2.2L MT 4x4 version with a discount of up to 80 million VND. Other versions of the Ranger pickup truck have gifts from 25-75 million VND.

Not only Ford Ranger but many other pickup truck models are also having quite big incentives, including Chevrolet Colorado, a compatriot of Ford Ranger.

This July, GM Vietnam continues to offer incentives of up to VND70 million for the Chevrolet Colorado 4x4 AT LTZ. Colorado and Chevrolet Cruze LTZ. This American auto joint venture also offers incentives of VND50 million for the Colorado 4x4 AT LTZ HIGH COUNTRY and Cruze LT; VND30 million for the Aveo and Colorado 4x4 MT LTZ.

In addition, GM Vietnam also reduced the price by 24 million VND for the Captiva REVV model; 20 million VND for the Colorado 4x2 MT LT and 4x4 MT LT versions; and 15 million VND for the Orlando LTZ model.

Not wanting to be outdone by American car companies, Japanese car giants are also constantly launching promotions and discounts to attract customers.

Starting the car price reduction campaign this July, Honda shocked its competitors by drastically reducing the selling price of many car models, including one model with a discount of up to 200 million VND.

The car model with the biggest discount is the Honda Odyssey, with a value of up to 200 million VND. The Honda CR-V continues to be adjusted down by an additional 10-20 million VND compared to the discount in June. The C-class Honda Civic Turbo is also reduced by 60 million VND. The Honda Accord is reduced by 100 million VND. Finally, the Honda City 2017, a new model introduced in mid-June, has a cash discount of 10-20 million VND, depending on the version and dealer.

Honda City's formidable competitor in the B-class sedan segment, Toyota Vios, is also receiving great incentives.

Recently, Toyota Vietnam unexpectedly announced a strong discount of 40-70 million VND for the Toyota Vios model, depending on the dealer. In addition to the direct discount on the car price, when buying a Toyota Vios at this time, customers will receive a preferential 3-year genuine maintenance package from Toyota Vietnam.

Not wanting to be outdone by its compatriot, this July, Mazda also simultaneously reduced prices for many car models.

Compared to the listed price in early June, the selling price of all 4 versions of Mazda 6 has been reduced this July. Accordingly, the AT 2.5L version has been reduced from 929 million VND to 899 million VND. The 2.0L version has been reduced from 945 million VND to 915 million VND.

With the 2.0L Premium version, the price has also been reduced from 999 million VND to 969 million VND. The 2.5L Premium version has its selling price adjusted from 1.165 billion VND to 1.125 billion VND.

Nissan is also a car company that regularly has promotional programs recently.

According to the latest announcement from Nissan Vietnam, from July 1, customers buying cars at authorized dealers will receive many incentives, including a direct discount of up to 45 million VND on the selling price.

Specifically, the Nissan X-Trail model received a very strong discount, from 20-40 million VND, depending on the version. The Nissan Sunny XV model did not receive a discount, but when buying a car, it will be given a set of interior and exterior decoration accessories. If customers do not choose accessories, they will receive a discount of 10 million VND. The newly launched Navara Premium R model received a cash promotion of 15 million VND.

It can be seen that the automobile market in Vietnam is becoming more and more exciting with incentive and discount programs. The battle for market share among automobile manufacturers is becoming more and more fierce, especially when the time to apply the new import tax policy in 2018 is approaching very soon.
