What are the consequences of filling a diesel car with the wrong fuel?

Wrongly put gasoline in diesel engine
Many vehicles use diesel engines but mistakenly put gasoline in the fuel tank. Because gasoline is lighter, the oil is at the bottom, the vehicle can still continue to operate depending on the amount of oil left in the tank. When the oil runs out, gasoline enters the combustion chamber and the vehicle will stall.
According to practical experience, in this case, the car can usually run a few more kilometers but the engine sound will change significantly, the engine will gradually weaken and then die completely and the only way is to call for rescue to take the car to the repair shop.
If you accidentally put in the wrong fuel and then don't continue driving, when you use it, you will immediately find it difficult to start and the engine will die immediately.
This will result in the engine overheating and seizure, damaging the piston rings or the entire air system, pistons, cylinders, and requiring the entire engine to be replaced. If the vehicle is left for a long time without running immediately after filling with the wrong fuel, the fuel can corrode the rubber fuel line, requiring replacement.
How to handle
To handle the problem, when detecting a mistake, it is absolutely necessary not to start the engine. Proceed to suck out all the mixed fuel, use a hand pump to pump out all the oil and gasoline, put new oil into the high pressure pump to continue rinsing. After cleaning the nozzle, spraying out the gasoline and oil, you can restart the engine and let it idle for 10-20 minutes to check, if it still runs normally, you can safely use it. If there is a strange noise from the engine, you should turn it off and take it to the maintenance workshop for a complete check.
Wrong oil in gasoline engine
This is a rare occurrence because the diesel nozzle at standard fuel pumps is always designed to be larger than the fuel tank opening of a gasoline car, so it is rare to be mistaken.
However, if you put the wrong oil into a gasoline engine, it will cause a lot of soot to be emitted because the oil is not burned completely. Then, it will gradually turn into jamming and seizing the engine because the soot sticks to the cylinder wall, causing the piston to jam. If the vehicle is moving at high speed and the engine seizes, it can lead to a broken crankshaft, damaging the engine.
How to handle
When a mistake is discovered, it is necessary to immediately determine how much fuel has been poured into the tank. Depending on the amount of diesel poured into the tank (over or under 10%) and whether the vehicle's engine is old or new, the user needs to have different handling options.
The first thing to do is to absolutely not start the vehicle (or turn off the engine immediately if you refuel and start the engine at the same time), then drain all the diesel-gasoline mixture from the tank.
If the amount of diesel poured in is small (less than 10%) compared to the capacity of the fuel tank and the engine is an old model, not using electronic fuel injection, you can fill the fuel tank to dissolve the diesel and the car will still run normally, just a little more smoke. If it is an electronic fuel injection engine, the best way is to tow the car to the garage to drain all the fuel, pour in new gasoline, clean the engine, high pressure pump, fuel injector... then pour in gasoline again to run the car normally.
