Some car owners complained about being refused registration because their cars only had one reverse light on, while this was the original design applied by the manufacturer, which caused quite a bit of controversy.

Car inspection is becoming a topic of interest to many car owners. After a series of controversies about what kind of car is qualified and not qualified for inspection? Recently, on social networks, a story of a car owner complaining about being refused inspection because the car only had one reverse light on was spread.

On some current car models, only one reverse light illuminates when reversing.

Specifically, in early February 2023, Mr. T - the owner of a Hyundai Kona car, brought his car to a Vehicle Inspection Center in Nghe An for vehicle inspection. After the inspection, he was informed that his Kona car was rejected for inspection due to many violations. Notably, there was an error: "the driver's side reverse light was not on". Similar to Mr. T, a number of other car owners who own Hyundai Kona, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Tucson... also "failed" for vehicle inspection because the car only had one reverse light on.

However, similar to Mr. T, other car owners explained that this was the original design of the manufacturer and had not been replaced, repaired or "modified", so this could not be considered a defect that prevented the car from being registered. This issue has created a lot of controversy in social networking groups of car users.

Reverse light design on some car models in Vietnam today.

In fact, some car models such as Hyundai Kona, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Tucson... when the driver performs the reverse operation, only 1 reverse light is on. Hyundai Kona, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Tucson... owners believe that this is the original design of the manufacturer. While other car owners think that this is really the original design and if it is not a defect, why did the manufacturer design it like that?

According to research, the reverse light cluster on the car is usually designed at the back of the car. On many car models, this type of light is often designed to be smaller in size than the taillights and turn signals. The reverse light only turns on when the driver is in reverse, so many drivers often do not notice or cannot know whether the reverse light on the car is fully lit or not.

Meanwhile, according to information from the manufacturer, some current car models such as Hyundai Kona have a design that includes only one reverse light, the remaining light is a reflector. This situation appears on many imported car models in Vietnam such as: Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Tucson or Ford Ecosport...
