Korean cars are improving, surpassing Japanese cars
Korean automakers Kia and Hyundai rank very highly in the quality index - a measure of the initial quality of new cars, conducted by JD Power.
Consulting firm JD Power conducted an Initial Quality Study (IQS) based on responses from 84,000 drivers who purchased or leased new vehicles, scoring them based on problems experienced during the first 90 days of ownership.
Among them, the connectivity and infotainment systems are the biggest issues often reported by users.

According to the results of the study, Korean car manufacturers Kia and Hyundai ranked very high in the quality index. Kia even surpassed Porsche to become the car manufacturer with the fewest defects in the world. Coming in second place was the brand new car brand Genesis with 77 defects per 100 cars. Hyundai ranked 8th, tied with Chevrolet and BMW.
Porsche lost its top position and fell to third place. Following was Ford - an American car company, which surpassed many Japanese car companies, achieving a record of progress and rising to fourth place.
In contrast to Korean cars, Japanese brands ranked low. This is also the first time in many years of research that Japanese cars have a quality satisfaction level below average. Only Nissan ranked 10th, while names like Toyota and Lexus could not make the top 10 in terms of quality index.
