Japanese cars all reduce prices: A rare event in Vietnam

May 24, 2017 15:49

In the past, Japanese auto giants rarely had promotions or discounts. However, facing the current "storm" of car price reductions in Vietnam, Japanese automakers have made unprecedented moves to reduce car prices.

Toyota seems to be a very sensitive car company to the times. The proof is that, as soon as the car price reduction war in Vietnam started, the Japanese car joint venture made a move to reduce prices on many imported car models.

At the beginning of 2017, Toyota Vietnam announced new prices for many products distributed on the market, with 2 brands Toyota and Lexus. Accordingly, Toyota Yaris G has the lowest reduction of 44 million VND, while Lexus LX570 model has the highest reduction of 210 million VND.

In April, the Japanese car joint venture applied a new price for the Toyota Camry, with a reduction of 60 million. However, in May, this car model was even more deeply discounted by 90 million VND and was directly deducted from the selling price.

Toyota Toyota Camry has a pretty strong discount.

In addition, other Toyota models are also continuously discounted. Specifically, the popular Toyota Vios model is also discounted from 50 - 60 million VND. The Altis model is discounted 30 - 40 million VND. The Toyota Innova model is also discounted from 55 - 60 million VND depending on the version. The Toyota Hilux model is discounted 15 million VND.

Not to be outdone, another Toyota compatriot, Nissan, also heavily discounted its products.

This May, the auto market recorded a sharp price reduction for Nissan Vietnam's car models.

The most shockingly discounted model of this company is the Nissan X-Trail. This high-end SUV model is discounted up to 85 million VND in cash, along with a promotional package in May of about 40 million VND, bringing the total discount to 125 million VND. Thus, the new price for the X-Trail SUV model in Vietnam is only from 933 million VND to 1.11 billion VND, not including special incentives from Nissan dealers.

Nissan's high-end SUV also has a "shocking" price reduction.

Not only that, when buying some other Nissan car models such as Sunny, Navara, Teana or Juke, customers will also receive accessories or direct cash from 10 to 30 million VND.

Along with Toyota and Nissan, Japanese car company Honda has also joined the car price reduction race in Vietnam.

Starting the price reduction, in April, Honda Vietnam dealers applied price reductions for some car models. Accordingly, the Honda City 2017 manual transmission model was reduced from 533 million VND to only 501 million VND, the automatic version was reduced from 583 million VND to 551 million VND.

The Honda Civic model was directly reduced by 30 - 40 million VND, down to 910 - 920 million VND. The Honda Odyssey model was even reduced by 60 - 70 million VND.

However, the biggest discount is on Honda's CR-V multi-purpose vehicle. Last April, Honda CR-V dealers applied a discount program of up to 110 million VND.

The CR-V SUV is Honda's most discounted model.

By this May, this car model has been applied the highest incentive by Honda dealers with a value of 90 - 115 million VND. Accordingly, the price of the CR-V 2.4 AT TG version has been directly reduced by 115 million VND. Thus, the actual price of the CR-V 2.4 AT TG version after deducting the incentive is only 1.063 billion VND.

The CR-V 2.0 AT version is also reduced by 90 million VND, bringing the actual selling price of this car model from 1 billion VND to 918 million VND. This is considered the record low price of Honda CR-V since this car model was launched in the Vietnamese market.

Not only that, when buying a Honda CR-V at this time, customers will also receive a free accessory set worth up to 60 million VND.

In addition, Honda also applied a new incentive for the Civic model in May 2017 with a cash discount of 45 million. In addition, customers will also receive a set of accessories when buying a car worth 20 million VND. If customers do not take the accessories, the discount will be 45 million VND. Thus, the actual price of Honda Civic at dealers is currently 905 - 910 million VND.

Honda also applied a new incentive in May 2017 for the Civic Vtec Turbo model with a discount of 45 million VND in cash or 40 million VND in cash and accessories worth 20 million VND. Therefore, the actual price of the Civic model after deducting the incentive is 905 million VND or 910 million VND and accessories.

This May, Honda also applies a 40 million VND discount for the B-class car - City in both versions of the car, City MT and City AT. In addition, customers who buy a car will also receive an additional accessory package worth 30 million VND.

In addition, customers who buy a Honda Accord, a model imported from Thailand, will also receive a 30 million VND discount and a free accessory set worth 30 million VND this May.

According to experts, the reason why car manufacturers decided to "give in" to reduce car prices is not outside the purpose of attracting customers and regaining market share. As for consumers, they hope that after this "war" of car price reduction, Vietnamese consumers will be able to own cars at prices equal to those in Thailand, Malaysia, etc.
