(Baonghean.vn) - Thousands of motorbikes and cars in Vinh City were "stuck" during the recent flooding. Immediately after the water receded, auto garages in the city were really busy repairing cars for people.

Many cars of Vinh City residents had to be repaired after flooding on the night of October 14 and morning of October 15.

On the morning of October 16, Mr. Luong Van Vinh in Ben Thuy Ward was able to "walk" his 4-seater car to the garage to fix the situation where rainwater flooded the floor of the car. Before that, he had to use tools to bail water out of the car but could not completely handle it.

At the workshop, the car is completely disassembled to wash and dry the felt lining and the electrical connections. This work takes at least 1 day and costs over 1 million VND.

In Mr. Vinh's case, he was "lucky" that water had not flooded the car engine. Because if water had gotten into the engine, the entire engine would have had to be disassembled, the shaft would have had to be serviced, the oil changed, the spark plugs cleaned...

For motorbikes, dealing with flooding is as simple as wiping the spark plugs and draining the gas in the carburetor, but for cars it takes a lot of time and money.

After disassembling and cleaning, repair shops add fans and dryers to dry the car floor.

On the morning of October 16, some taxis that had stalled due to flooding in recent days had to be towed back to the workshop.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh - Director of Thang Long General Trading and Service Joint Stock Company, who runs an auto repair shop on Xo Viet Avenue, said: On October 15, we mobilized cranes to rescue dozens of cars that were flooded and stalled on city roads. We quickly handled the cars that were slightly flooded for the people, while the more serious cases are being repaired at the shop.

Many cars were heavily flooded, affecting their electrical and mechanical systems.

Auto repair shops will be busy for many days to come.

Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, an experienced auto mechanic, added: If the car is deeply flooded, people should not try to start the engine. At this time, we should call for help, then the possibility of damage will be reduced. The mechanic only needs to wipe the spark plug, dry the electrical connection and the car floor.

According to Mr. Cuong, if you try to start the car, the shaft or even the engine block will be damaged, causing a loss of nearly 100 million VND. Because at that time, water entering the air filter will bring water into the engine's combustion chamber, thus damaging many parts of the car. The repair will take longer (about 4-5 days).
