President Barack Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton visited Beau Biden, the son of the US Vice President, who died of brain cancer last week.

At yesterday's funeral, Mr. Obama delivered a moving eulogy in memory of Beau Biden, the son of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. "Beau Biden was a special person. He was a good man. A man of great character. A man who knew how to love deeply and, in return, was loved by everyone."

"Only by knowing Joe and the rest of the Biden family can you understand why Beau lived the life he did," Obama said.

One thousand people attended the funeral service at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Wilmington, including former U.S. President Bill Clinton and his wife. Vice President Joe Biden and his family entered the church at the beginning of the service.

Beau Biden, 46, was formerly the Attorney General of Delaware and served a year as a member of the U.S. Army's Delaware National Guard in Iraq. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in August 2013 and underwent surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. However, the disease recurred this spring.

The death of Beau Biden is another tragedy in the life of the vice president, who lost his first wife and daughter in a car accident shortly after winning the U.S. Senate in 1972. Beau and his younger brother Hunter, then only two or three years old, were injured in the accident but survived.

Hunter Biden said his first memory after the accident was his brother holding his hand. "He always protected us," he said.

American media widely reported on the death of Beau Biden, who was married and had two children, and many messages of condolences and sympathy were sent to the vice president.
