Obama reappoints Dempsey to head coalition
US President Barack Obama announced on June 26 that he would reappoint General Martin Dempsey, 61 years old, as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest-ranking US military officer.

In a statement, President Obama also said that Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Sandy Winnefeld, will be reappointed for another two-year term. Mr. Obama also urged the Senate to quickly approve these two nominations.
