Olympic Games after Day 13: USA surpasses China, Russia surpasses South Korea.
Day 13 of the London 2012 Olympics continued to showcase the strength of the US team as they officially overtook China to claim the top spot in the overall medal standings.
The Americans won five more gold medals than China's single gold medal, taking the lead with 39 gold medals out of a total of 90. Meanwhile, China has only won 80 medals, including 37 gold medals. The Chinese sports delegation only won one gold medal yesterday.

Further back, the Russian team also surpassed South Korea to take fourth place in the rankings. Both teams won 12 gold medals, but Russia still pulled ahead with a total of 56 medals (compared to 25 for South Korea). The Russians also won 21 silver medals compared to only 7 for South Korea.
Great Britain continued to solidify its third-place position overall by winning three more gold medals on day 13 of competition. Jade Jones' gold medal in taekwondo was the 25th gold medal for Britain at the London 2012 Olympics.
