OMO - The world's highly regarded educational model is now available in Vietnam
(Baonghean.vn) - In Vietnam, the OMO model completely solves the shortage of quality teachers in areas far from large cities, especially when reviewing for transfer exams or studying specific subjects such as English is increasingly emphasized.
The superiority of OMO education
OMO stands for Online-Merge-Offline, a hybrid classroom model that combines online and offline learning, allowing learners to attend live classes or participate in virtual classes anywhere at the same time. This model has been researched and applied by countries such as the US, China, Spain, etc. since 2015. However, the OMO teaching and learning method has become even more important and effective since the Covid-19 pandemic officially broke out globally. With its usability, flexibility, and good results for learners and teachers, the OMO model is expected to become an inevitable teaching trend in Vietnam in the near future.
The OMO education method is formed and developed based on the advantages of the Internet, technology infrastructure platforms, cloud services, Big Data, AI... The system will include an operations center, playing the role of connecting the learning space from online to offline, with applications, teachers and learners. When it is time for class, teachers do not need to go to class, just log in to the system to teach.
For learners, there are two options: either go to a live class that is fully equipped with projectors, speakers, and computers, then log into the system to see and listen to the teacher's lecture (with the support of a teaching assistant in the classroom), or if they are too far away to go to class, they can log into the system using their own computer and join the study.

OMO model in developed countries – Internet source |
The advantage of this unified model is that it not only provides the opportunity to study quality courses with good teachers but also provides flexibility in terms of convenient space and location for everyone. On the other hand, for the teaching staff, they can reach students everywhere, even in other provinces, which is a prominent advantage compared to a regular classroom. This access is not only limited to a province or country but is global.
Galaxy Education pioneers in applying the OMO model in Vietnam
The Vietnamese education market has recently begun to embrace the OMO teaching and learning trend, and Galaxy Education - owner of the HOCMAI brand - is the pioneer in implementing this model. Combined with the Classin online learning platform, Galaxy Education is currently applying this model in two forms. One is to open centers to teach English, teach cultural subjects at schools, teach programming and prepare for exams at all levels. Two is to open IELTS and Cambridge English classes at schools.

OMO model at Cao Xuan Huy Secondary School, Nghe An. |
The school's classrooms are equipped with projectors, speakers, tablets, tables and chairs, etc. designed according to Galaxy Education's OMO model. Here, students can interact with tablets and teachers comfortably and confidently. The school feels secure when the Center closely monitors students and even commits to clear output. During the learning process, there are periodic tests, and learning results are also summarized and reported to parents.
The role of teaching assistants in direct classes is also very important, besides supporting students in connecting devices, answering questions, clarifying the foreign teachers' ideas, especially actively supporting students when participating in extracurricular activities inside and outside the center. Cao Xuan Huy Secondary School currently has 5 classes following the OMO model (20 students per class), all of which are grade 6 students studying the IELTS English program. In the near future, the school plans to open more subjects such as Information Technology, Science, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences - Mr. Chu Minh Son added.
It can be seen that the OMO model focuses on people and data, takes advantage of smart technologies and creates new learning methods. The OMO education model not only plays an effective role in the epidemic period, or in the event of unexpected incidents, but is also sustainable and long-term because it closely meets the actual needs of learners. That is the need to study with good teachers everywhere, to access international standard curriculum, smart learning processes, modern technology platforms, rich electronic learning resources... of all learners, especially students in remote provinces and rural areas.
