On January 20, the Security Investigation Agency, Ministry of Public Security, announced that it had decided to prosecute Mr. Dinh La Thang (59 years old), former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, for the crime of "Violating regulations on investment in construction works causing serious consequences", according to Article 224 of the Penal Code.
The Security Investigation Agency also prosecuted, ordered a search of the residence and banned Ms. Tran Thi Binh (61 years old), former Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, from leaving her place of residence.
The decision to prosecute Mr. Thang and Ms. Binh is part of the ongoing investigation into the case."Violating regulations on investment in construction works causing serious consequences" occurred at the Petrochemical and Biofuel Joint Stock Company (Phu Tho Ethanol case).
