The King of Physics warns that humans will be replaced by computers.
Professor Stephen Hawking believes that humans will quickly be replaced by computers if the race to develop artificial intelligence does not stop.
Stephen Hawking's warning
Astronomer and "prince of physics" Stephen Hawking believes that the development of powerful artificial intelligence (AI) could be the best, but also the worst thing for humanity. Accordingly, humans are at risk of being completely replaced by machines, according to RT.
This statement was made by him at the Global Mobile Internet Conference, which took place in Beijing, China in the middle of last week. Hawking believes that technology is moving towards a time when computers and the human brain can achieve the same achievements.
Aside from its potential to solve problems like disease, Hawking points to a darker future where AI develops a mind of its own. He worries that technological innovation could spiral out of control, leaving humans subverted by the very systems that serve them.
"I fear the consequences of creating something that is equal to or surpasses humans. AI can develop and redesign itself at an ever-increasing rate. Meanwhile, humans, limited by slow biological evolution, cannot compete and will be replaced," Professor Hawking concluded.
