Kim Jong-un: Sanctions against North Korea are an act of war
Leader Kim Jong-un has criticized sanctions against North Korea, calling them an act of war.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on August 17 criticized “hostile forces” for continuing to impose sanctions on the country, state media reported. The North Korean leader’s remarks came as the US continues to maintain pressure on Pyongyang.

Speaking at a construction site for a tourist resort in the Wonsan-Kalma coastal area, Kim Jong-un said that hostile forces were still trying to suppress the North Korean people through brutal sanctions and blockades. He also said that defending the prestige of the Workers' Party of Korea was a life-and-death struggle, according to KCNA.
The US media has described Mr. Kim Jong-un as a "gangster" when making demands in exchange for the country's denuclearization.
At the historic US-North Korea Summit held in Singapore last June, the US and North Korean leaders reached an agreement under which Pyongyang would give up its nuclear weapons in exchange for the US lifting sanctions./.
