Reuters reported on February 10 that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un invited South Korean President Moon Jae-in to Pyongyang.
The proposal was conveyed to South Korea by Kim Yo-jong, the younger sister of the North Korean leader, on the occasion of Kim, First Deputy Director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Workers' Party of Korea, who is visiting Seoul with a high-ranking North Korean delegation.
A spokesman for the South Korean presidential office announced the information and said that Mr. Kim "looks forward to meeting Mr. Moon soon." President Moon was quoted as saying that he would create the necessary conditions in the near future for the meeting to become a reality. This is expected to be the first meeting between the leaders of the two Koreas in more than 10 years.
In October 2007, South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun held talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il (father of Kim Jong-un) in Pyongyang.
