Mr. Chung said the North Korean leader was very happy to receive him and even revealed that the late leader Kim Jong-il's last wish was to denuclearize the Korean peninsula.
Mr. Kim affirmed that he would not keep nuclear weapons if external military threats no longer existed. At the same time, Mr. Kim hoped to receive “reliable security guarantees.”
The North Korean government also expressed its desire for “sincere dialogue with the United States” on denuclearization and diplomacy. Pyongyang affirmed that when the dialogue takes place, the North Korean government will completely freeze nuclear and missile tests.

Previously, US President Donald Trump also wrote on his personal Twitter that he wanted to talk to Pyongyang. Mr. Trump wrote: “For the first time in many years, a significant effort has been made by the relevant parties. The world is waiting! It may be false hope, but the US will still see it through.”
Mr. Chung said the North Korean leader affirmed that he would never use nuclear or conventional weapons against South Korea, and agreed to meet President Moon Jae-in this April.
The meeting is expected to be held at the Panmunjom truce village and will be the first high-level meeting between the two sides in a decade.
