Mr. Le Hung Dung: 'VFF is facing many unprecedented incidents in history'
In an interview with the press, Mr. Le Hung Dung, President of VFF, admitted that he was very shocked when PC45 of Ho Chi Minh City Police informed him about the incident of VFF Vice President Nguyen Xuan Gu in Saigon on May 24, and Mr. Dung said that perhaps this was an unprecedented incident in the history of Vietnamese football.

PV:Sir, how did you learn about the case of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Gu, Vice President in charge of VFF communications?
- VFF President Le Hung Dung:I was informed by my colleagues that PC45 called and asked VFF to send someone to confirm a person they were working with, a senior official of VFF. Honestly, when I first heard, I was shocked and did not understand why such a thing happened, so I sent Mr. Duong Vu Lam, head of the VFF Representative Office in the Southern region, to PC45 to confirm as requested.
* After the incident of Mr. Gu, there were some opinions saying that Mr. Gu was the victim of a plot to harm him before the VFF Congress. Could you give your opinion on this issue?
- If you think this is a plot or trap for Mr. Gu related to the VFF Congress, I think it is a product of imagination.
I think this is not a trick or a magic trick. The agency directly carrying out this case is the anti-prostitution and human trafficking team of PC45 in coordination with District 1 in a joint campaign of the whole city. If you read the newspaper, you must have seen that the authorities have checked many different places in Ho Chi Minh City such as karaoke, bars, hotels, not targeting any individual.
Whoever violates the law will be considered and handled by the authorities depending on the severity. Mr. Gu's entry into Saigon is his personal matter, and the fact that he was discovered by the authorities staying in the same hotel with a girl who had not registered for temporary residence coincided with an inspection by the interdisciplinary force.
* Can you tell us how VFF is handling Mr. Gu's case?
- There has been a lot of information in the press in the past few days, so we have issued a press release. However, based on the opinions of some members of the VFF Executive Committee, we have asked Mr. Gu to make a report. Based on the report, we will report to the Executive Committee for their opinions on this matter.
* So when will Mr. Gu make a report and what is your assessment of this incident?
- I think it will be soon, around next week. Personally, I think the recent information is rare in the history of Vietnamese football, so we need to have a thorough and careful assessment.
In fact, in the past few days, the information and images of Mr. Gu working with the authorities at the hotel where he is staying have had a certain impact on the image of VFF. However, the extent of the impact cannot be fully assessed.
