Mr. Nguyen Van Thong: Struggling to improve the lives of people in mountainous areas

(Baonghean) - Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee; candidate for the Provincial People's Council for the 2016-2021 term in constituency No. 18, Con Cuong district.

Being nominated as a candidate for the Provincial People's Council for the 2016-2021 term is an honor for me personally, and at the same time a great responsibility that I must fulfill before the Party and the voters. If elected by the voters, I will focus my capacity, intelligence, and time to carry out well the following contents:

First: Properly and fully perform the responsibilities of a people's representative; that is, listen to and grasp the opinions and aspirations of voters and people; promptly reflect to agencies and competent persons issues arising at the grassroots level related to people's lives and economy; monitor, make recommendations and supervise the handling and resolution of citizens' legitimate rights and interests according to the law; pay attention to propaganda, explanation and dissemination of the Party and State's policies and laws to people; cultivate political mettle, moral qualities and lifestyle; well implement the motto of being close to, understanding and responsible to the people.

Second: Based on the provisions of the law on the powers and responsibilities of a provincial People's Council delegate and the practical situation in Con Cuong locality, if elected to the Provincial People's Council for this term, I will try my best to contribute to the effective implementation of the following key goals and tasks: Pay attention to and take care of infrastructure construction, especially transportation, irrigation, electricity for production and daily life.

Including the route to Binh Chuan, Thach Ngan, the roads to border areas such as Mon Son, Chau Khe... Implementing well the mechanisms and policies to support the development of forest and farm economy. This task will be effective in two directions: Improving income, improving the lives of people and protecting the upstream forests, especially the Pu Mat Biosphere Reserve better. Gradually improving the capabilities and conditions to serve the needs of cultural enjoyment, education, and health care for people, specifically contributing to solving some immediate shortcomings and difficulties in studying, initial medical examination and treatment, such as the issue of schools, medical stations, the quality and responsibility of medical staff and doctors towards people... especially in remote areas and groups of policy beneficiaries, people in special circumstances...

Third: As a member of the Provincial Party Committee, advising the Provincial Party Committee on leadership and direction of internal affairs and anti-corruption work, I will pay more attention to some key contents of this field such as:

- Ensure border security, especially issues of territorial integrity, border order, and peace and friendship among people in villages along the Vietnam - Laos border.

- Promoting the revolutionary tradition of the Con Cuong people - where the first Party cell of the Western Nghe An region was established; consolidating and promoting solidarity and cohesion among ethnic groups living together in the area.

- Strengthen supervision of the activities of judicial agencies, coordinate regularly to contribute to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of ensuring security and order, fighting against all types of crimes and social evils in the area (especially fraud, human trafficking, drugs...).

- Strengthen supervision of the performance of tasks of state agencies; the spirit and attitude of service of officials towards the people, actively implement solutions to prevent and combat corruption and waste in all fields.
