Patrick Shanahan becomes new leader of the Pentagon

US President Donald Trump said that Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan will serve as Secretary of Defense.

"Patrick has a long list of accomplishments while serving as Deputy Secretary and before that at Boeing," Trump wrote on his Twitter account on Sunday.


Mr. Shanakhan worked as a vice president at the aircraft manufacturer, where he worked on civilian and military projects. Since July 2017, he has served as deputy chief of staff at the Pentagon, nominated by Donald Trump.
