On October 6, the Party Central Committee worked at the Hall. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Central Organization Committee, read the Politburo's report on the election of additional members of the 12th Party Central Committee Secretariat.
The Party Central Committee discussed and elected two additional members of the 12th Party Central Committee Secretariat, including: Mr. Phan Dinh Trac, member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption; Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council.

Mr. Phan Dinh Trac (born August 25, 1958, hometown Dien Loc, Dien Chau, Nghe An) is a member of the Party Central Committee, 11th and 12th terms; a National Assembly delegate for 3 terms. Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province, 13th term...
After graduating from the People's Security University, Mr. Trac briefly worked at the Ministry of the Interior (now the Ministry of Public Security) before joining the police force in Nghe An province. In 2001, he held the position of Director of Nghe An Provincial Police and became Chairman of the province four years later.
In October 2010, he was elected Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee (term 2010-2015). From January 2013, he held the position of Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission when this commission was re-established. After being re-elected to the Party Central Committee, in February 2016, he held the position of Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.
Also from Nghe An, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang (born December 18, 1957) is a professor, doctor of economics; Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council. Mr. Thang has been involved in the social sciences for a long time. In 2007, he was Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (now the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) and became Chairman 4 years later.
Since 2016, he has held the position of Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

According to the Charter of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Secretariat leads the daily work of the Party, directs and inspects the activities of Party organizations and Party members in implementing the Party's resolutions and directives; directs Party building, personnel work and mass work; organizes and directs the preparation of issues to be presented to the Politburo for discussion and decision. The Secretariat is established by the Central Executive Committee, consisting of a number of Politburo members assigned by the Politburo and a number of Central Secretaries elected by the Central Executive Committee. The number of Central Secretaries is decided by the Central Executive Committee. |
