Mr. Pompeo: Will carry out “tough diplomacy” to counter threats to the US, including Russia
New US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has promised to pursue a policy of “tough diplomacy” to address threats facing the United States, including those from Russia.

Pompeo was sworn in as the new US Secretary of State on Wednesday in a ceremony at the State Department building in Washington, with US President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence in attendance.
"Mr. President, I promise: My team and I will fight tirelessly against these threats. We will conduct tough diplomacy when necessary and always put the interests of the American people first. I will work to ensure the security, protect the rights and values of the American people, so that the United States will always be a respected leader on the international stage," said the new Secretary of State.
Among other important tasks, the new Foreign Minister also mentioned the nuclear weapons issue in the DPRK and resolving economic and trade relations with China.
