Putin: Russian soldiers return from Syria with victory

Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked Russian servicemen serving at the Hmeymim airbase, crediting them for bringing victory back to their homeland.

"You are bringing victory back to your beloved homes, to your relatives, parents, wives, children, and friends. Your homeland is waiting for you. I wish you a safe journey. Thank you very much for your duty," Putin said in front of the servicemen at the Russian base in Latakia, Syria.

"The task of combating armed bandits in Syria, which required a large-scale mobilization of the armed forces, has been basically solved brilliantly. I congratulate you," Putin said.

According to him, the Russian armed forces and defense industry enterprises have demonstrated the growing strength of the Army and Navy and the high combat effectiveness of their units.

"Pilots, sailors, special forces, reconnaissance, servicemen of control agencies, logistics, military police, military medics, engineers, consultants in battles for the Syrian army have demonstrated the best qualities of Russian soldiers," - Mr. Putin said.

"Bravery, heroism, team spirit and determination, proficiency and professionalism. I am confident that you will always faithfully serve the Fatherland, protect and maintain the national interests of the country and its people," he said.
