On Thursday, the President convened a meeting of the Council on Culture and Arts, where delegates discussed improving domestic cultural policy and other related topics in the field. Traditionally, prominent figures in the cultural and artistic world attended the meeting.
"I ask your pardon, there are many memorable notes here, and I would be happy to invite everyone to speak. But I urgently need to take a phone call. If we agree on what I want to discuss, I am ready to return and continue," Putin told those attending the session.
Earlier, the head of state's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, informed reporters that the President would be making a series of international phone calls on Thursday.
