Xi Jinping: China will not hesitate to retaliate against the US on trade
(Baonghean.vn) - The Wall Street Journal on June 25 quoted many sources as saying that Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed that he will not hesitate to retaliate against the US on trade issues.

Speaking before the Global CEO Council, a China-organized group of about 20 executives from mostly Western multinationals such as Goldman Sachs and Volkswagen, Xi Jinping said:
“In the West you have the concept that if someone slaps you on the left cheek, you turn the right cheek. But in our culture, we punch back.”
“China will not yield to any external pressure and will not eat the bitter fruit. That is the negotiating principle set by President Xi Jinping,” the Wall Street Journal quoted an unnamed senior official as saying.
Trade tensions between the US and China have escalated in recent weeks, as the Trump administration announced a list of $50 billion worth of Chinese goods subject to a 25% tariff, accusing Beijing of violating intellectual property rights, and warned of additional tariffs if China retaliated.
Beijing then retaliated by imposing similar tariffs on the same value of US goods.
On June 18, President Trump continued to announce plans to impose a 10% tariff on a package of imported goods from China worth up to 200 billion USD. These disputes push the two countries closer to a trade war that is predicted to harm the global economy./.
