Mr. Taro Kono, former Minister in charge of administrative reform, has just been appointed as Foreign Minister of Japan.
Today (August 3), Mr. Abe will finalize the list and announce the new Cabinet. The new Cabinet has many changes, in which LDP members who were formerly leaders of ministries and sectors have been appointed to key positions.

Accordingly, Mr. Taro Kono, former Minister in charge of administrative reform, was appointed as Foreign Minister, former Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera as Defense Minister. Mr. Fumio Kishida transferred to hold the position of Executive Chairman of the LDP.
In addition, many Ministers in the current Cabinet also transferred to other Ministries such as the Minister of Health, Labor and Social Welfare, and the Minister of National Transport remained the same.
The Minister of Economy will remain the same. The post of Minister of Education and Science is likely to go to Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Mr. Eshima Tetsuki, former Vice Minister of Land and Transport, will take over as Minister in charge of Okinawa and Northern Affairs.
